summer
heather Campsmith 1975 (kalamazoo)
The Summer sun paints our coco butter scented skin with its paint brush, brown , bronze tones yellow mustard outlines dot our shoulders. Bare clad feet dance on the sand they dance to the music of the ocean as they sink into the waves. soft hands being held tight , promises being made in hushed tones whispered in the wind. Child laughter
floats in the air and makes sheet music in the sky. The ice cream truck plays carnival tunes that call out to them like a snake charmer. Burnt hot dogs tickle our pink sunburnt noses , cherry colored snow cone juice glues to our face like paper , we savor the flavor in our mouth. sand castles are made by hand first kisses be made are they not grand we do not want this summer to end.
