Insomniac

Here we go,
Let's begin this war.
To the other side,
Once I close these eyes.
It'll only last a moment.

However,
My mind is a vortex of emotions.
I cannot bring myself to stay asleep.
This late at night;
The monsters in my closet,
Are restless just the same.

I can write and write,
Just to tire out this mind.
But you wouldn't even get the gist of it.
This war has become a cycle.

Here we go,
The monsters are wreaking havoc again.
Causing a storm inside these dreams.
I am afraid.
Not of these monsters,
But what goes on inside this head.

Once I close these eyes,
I fear I am someone else.
No longer any hint of being myself.
Such an insomniac I am,
These monsters kept me awake
For far too long.
I have lost this war.
I cannot sleep....
