Snowflakes of Hope
A lone figure walked,
Under bright street lights.
It was a dark night,
And she struggled to fight.
Another hard day.
Had come her way.
She felt dead tired,
Wondering if there was hope,
To stop all the pain she’s feeling.
The air was freezing,
Like her heart.
The wind battered her face,
With cold air.
She pulled the scarf,
Tighter around her face.
Suddenly, she felt a change,
She thought it strange.
For the winds had died down,
And a calmness replaced it.
She stopped and stared up at the streetlights,
And saw tiny little flakes,
Floating down from the sky.
They were magnificent,
For they gleamed in the rays of light.
Each one a graceful dancing figure,
Under those beautiful bright lights.
A glimmer of hope was ignited,
In that freezing heart of hers.
Then a thought occurred,
Her vision blurred.
For a realization hit:
What if there was hope?
What if, like snowflakes,
She was a dancer,
One who could dance to her dreams?
What if her pain was temporary,
And greatness awaited just ahead?
What if she could conquer,
Her fears, doubts, and pain?
Maybe she can.
Maybe not all is lost.
Yes I can conquer
She decided.
Her heart filled with warmth
And gladness
As she continued to walk,
Under those bright street lights.
About this poem
This poem depicts a lone figure walking down a row of streetlights. She felt lost and hopeless. It started to snow and she saw the beauty of each snowflake. This gave her hope. What if, like a snowflake, she could accomplish her dreams? What if greatness awaited her just around the corner? I hope this poem will give hope to all those who have been struggling lately, weather it be mental illness or physical illness.
