The Everlasting Betrayal
Sabina Skwarek 2007 (New Britain)
Like a piece of dust you disappear from my
life.
Like a stone, cold.
Like a black rose, its petals that wither and
fall to the ground.
Memories dusted away, not forgotten
entirely, but still gone.
Something you always told, a promising
truth, but now a lie.
Nothing fazes me, nothing appeals to my
interest.
How a thousand promises could simply turn
into a thousand lies.
You told uncountable lies, yet never any
kept promises.
I walked unknowingly into your arms,
unaware of a stab to my back.
You let me fall and had broken my trust.
I still have that wound, a reminder, a scar.
