I Once Loved

I once loved
Like a rose it gave joy
As I reached toward the fragile petals
My hand was impaled by hateful thorns
I once loved

I once trusted
Like a lock it was unbreakable
When I gave the key
Betrayed I was left
I once trusted

I once had companions
Like a shadow, they were always there
When I needed help
Selfish they called out
I once had companions

I once loved
I once trusted
I once had companions
Yet all left me broken
I once loved
