morning
Opening my eyes slowly, I know its time
I roll over, to sleep later would be a crime,
My alarm blares, an irritating intrusion
Clicking it off, a satisfying conclusion.
It would be in my best interests to arise
Further dwelling in bed would be unwise
I think it over a moment more
Simply considering it to the core
Boring, I conclude stepping out to be
Even if preparing would best suit me
“A few minutes more,” I decide
Under my covers, again I hide
I feel my eyes begin to rest
Sip some water, a tired test
Setting it down, quite the prize
Soon enough, closed are my eyes
Before I know it, I’m jolted awake
My other alarms have intervened with my break
I swallow my procrastination, it’s a familiar intrusion
Journeying across the room to bring about its conclusion.
