The Bee
By Damion Maxwell Cheesman
I was just sitting there in the dawns bright light on a bench in the park,
When I hear a Bee zoom right by I jumped off my chair and gave a big screaming cry I bunch my arms up like a dead spider and I look around when I look to my right I see black and yellow stripes, it is now that I realize the I’m staring at a Bee I am more surprised when I hear it speak.
“Why is it that your so scared you shouldn’t be scared of me.”
I’m the one who should be scared for you are such a massive thing, when I look at your lot I get so scared I feel like I should sting, but hear I am brave and young talking to your kind.
Am I really so scary that you don’t notice the things I do for you?
I’m the one who keeps your flowers nice, I pollinate other flowers so they can produce offspring.
I am the one who pollinates at every three bites of your food and I’m the one who makes the sweets to make you happy and joyful.
Now that you know that I’m not so scary as I seem will you now wipe that scared look off your face?
Now that I know what a bee does I’m now thankful for their lovely work and will not jump when one passes by for now I know that when I jump the bees feel like he or she has to sting.
Thank you young lady for understanding the job of a hard-working bee and now I will leave for I have other places to be.
