Hear me
Ash.Tazin 2006 (Dhaka)
Hear Me
Bound by the chains of expectations
That came from the dark pit of greedy want
I'm broke
Giving away the pieces of sheer will
For the sole purpose of keeping myself alive
I'm lost
So many unknown paths
Filled with demonic hands that
Sufocates me
Controls the way I breath
Not one more puff of air
that would help me
Walk another way, towards tranquillity
I'm crying
But tears aren't valued
They mean nothing to your
Eagerness of seeing me crumble
To burn
So from my ashes you can build
your much desired kingdom
Nothing
Just fighting
With myself,
Making myself belief
My own yearnings and fantasies
Are the hellhounds that are meant to be
Collared, bound ,caged in a dark cellar
Where they are kept till
They vanish with my last breath.
I'm yelling, shouting, gasping, squealing
The only voice that comes back
In this dark home of mine
Are my own echos of desperation.
"Help me"
"I wanna leave to live"
I'm smiling
I can feel It
They are pulling my strings
My movements in their hands
And in front of me there is a massive audience
Enjoying another destruction
They could end but who cares?
About this poem
This poem was written to portray the emotional damage one faces when forced to follow someone else's wishes or fulfill the expectations of one's family or society. I have seen people not being able to upset or disapoint their loved ones and suffering through their lives because they couldn't fight for their wishes on the expense of upsetting others. There is much to say, stories to share about this poem that could leave many in shock and sympathy.
