The flower I almost killed

To the flower I almost killed...

I apologize for not protecting you, Instead I irrigated you with all the poisonous words from the surroundings even though I knew some was contaminated. Every time I spotted a brown dot on your petals, I blamed you because I believed you were an ugly breed.
I watched you drown from all the acids that came with the water, suffocated you with a bag full of hatred. I failed to understand when your stem did not grow tall instead you grew sideways lying on the ground. Defined your beauty in reference to all the other breeds.
I labeled you lazy after watching every storm hit you.
Convinced you, you were stronger than the August winds. Yes you were stronger but a little support from me would have strengthened you more. I blamed and called you a rascal when you ran from home and decided to start a life far from me. Because I was one of the acids that burnt your petals brown, yet I expected you to bloom and be the rainbow flower I bought.
I am glad you still saw light even after had dug you the deepest grave. I am glad you protected yourself when I failed to, found courage to rise after all the stones I threw at you. Though your rainbow colors have not all developed, I am still proud of the flower you have grown to be.
You are brave, intelligent and most importantly you are beautiful.
Unlike the flower I was trying to grow in you, you are everything the world deserves to see.

About this poem

This is an apology to the inner child that suffered because of a confidence and self-esteem that was built in reference to all the things the world had to say.
