The Reason/Isizathu

Khanyisani Dube 2000 (Vosloorus)

              THE REASON/ISIZATHU

           They sail to the west,
While we sank to the east.
As the whole world dream's to
          be better,
Every season we try to find reasons
For being better while given bitter.

          They implemented education
          After violence
Yet we had to abandon our
         Families to find better.

Books are keys to wisdom treasure,
Books are gate to land of pressure,
Books are path that upward leads,
         Books are friendly.

         Lo mhlaba akuwona
         Wabangahlelanga kepha phambuka
         Bazokwehlulela mhla usuhluleka
         Wena ohlelile.
        Iziqalekiso akuzona ezethu ngezokhokho
        Abangasekho sukuma.

        Young optimistic blood and
        Battle for peace
        Peacefully we will live
        Education with love
        We find love
        Education with war
        Brings love to all mankind
        Education has better I say
Education is a better safe guard of
        liberty than a standing army
        I say.
