The Messaging Game
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
The messaging game.
Avoided to dismiss and twist,
Contents of the message.
With a loading of it,
Some do to prefer to add their nonsense.
Has nothing to do with the truth.
That a few choose,
For them offends to begin arguments.
Arguments started to suggest and defend,
What is in the message...
Is meant to be delivered.
Done directly towards them.
And it is yet still,
Like other messages sent...
With the same contents in it.
Immediately it is the messenger accused,
For having the nerve to deliver a message...
With words used that are rude.
Disrespectful, too honest and true.
Leaving the messenger the one attacked.
And blamed to deliver a message,
Not to open or look at.
Or...
Approve of the words used.
Nor what the message says.
But knows the address.
And name of the fool who accepted it!
'Uh...
Before you get my mother involved in this.
Or tell me what I can do to myself.
I am just the messenger!'
'Oh...
I am so sorry.
Can you ever forgive me?
You must think I'm a fool.
Who has lost my mind.'
'No problem.
Truth has that effect.
On those who don't expect it done.
To come in the way it does.
However I must say this,
You are the first to confess...
Of knowing my thoughts.
You must be psychic?'
'I...uh...what?'
'Yep.
I didn't say a thing.
As if you had read between the lines.'
'What?
I did what?'
'I mean...
As if you could read my mind!'
'Huh? What?'
'It's all good.
To deserve as it should.'
