Hesitation
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Not everyone intentionally procrastinates.
With a hesitation for their decision made.
Some contemplate.
And await to focus on that right choice.
To accept and avoid confusion.
Knowing from experience,
That a rushing in haste would be too late...
To use excuses and alibis.
Or deny what they did had not been a lie.
And yet...
Many will find their self deceptions protected.
With this to know,
Following behind others...
Known to change their minds,
Never ends ongoing disagreements.
Or the praising of anyone,
Coming forward to admit their mistakes.
Although high,
Most will keep their expectations.
That a giving up temporarily,
The ownership of their common sense...
And at their expense?
Could not be someone else's decision made.
Since the euphoria created,
To follow behind others...
Had been too addicting,
For anyone from it to turn away.
'This...
Explanation of yours is nonsense.'
Oh yeah?
Go ahead and accuse me.
Accuse me for being proactive!
'Proactive?
How can you say,
Your decision to have made...
Had been proactive?
And you are here doing stupid stuff with us?'
At first...
There I sat.
Alone.
In hesitation mode.
Praying to make the right decision.
The right decision for myself.
Then I heard you all outside shouting...
ONLY FOOLS THESE DAYS WOULD ATTEMPT
A USING OF COMMON SENSE.
WHEN EVERYONE ELSE,
HAVE LONG BEEN CONVINCED...
HOW STUPID CAN ANYONE BE TO THINK,
THAT CHOICE TO MAKE...
RETURNS TO THEM A SINGLE BENEFIT.
So...
I then decided,
It is better to go along with the crowd.
Than to feel ostracized as if a leper.
'Well...
At least you dare to be honest.
So many these days will follow along.
Hoping to disguise a lieing to themselves.
You?
On the other hand,
Dare to be brave.
Done to do to charade.
But not masquerade a parading,
Of your intentions meant.
Regardless of how weakened,
Your initial intentions have become.'
I don't know,
If I should feel flattered or not.
'Either way.
Kept pretensions with us?
Or impressions to make these days.
No one would notice to care!'
