I Prefer Macintosh
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
The Earth.
This one.
And not from an alternate Universe.
Spins.
While rotating around the Sun.
Could it be,
The ones who say...
'Try not to feel down.
Look up.'
Yet...
Where is up?
Where is down?
In an endless Universe,
When wishing upon a fallen star for luck.
May not be falling down at all.
But up.
While those on an Earth,
Rotating around a fixed Sun.
Might just be covering their eyes,
After spending twelve hours each day...
Wondering why and staring at a star.
That people say,
Will damage your eyes.
To cause blindness.
With a making what is wished deferred!
Or...
Impossible to recognize.
'So...
What are you saying?'
I remember many years ago,
I was told to believe...
A flying stork gently placed me down,
Near doorsteps where my parents lived.
But my sister they got at a hospital.
Later after I grew up I discovered on my own,
Babies were made by having sex.
And...
Not with storks either.
I saw one at a zoo once.
And there was nothing I found,
To be that attractive to get my attention.
I couldn't imagine myself,
Plucking through all those feathers.
Then to discover,
There was no chemistry.
Without chemistry what is the point!
'It might have been a turkey.'
How could I have known the difference?
'By its Adam's Apple.'
Adam's Apple?
I prefer Mac Intosh!
Great for making pies and applesauce!
Happy Thanksgiving!
