The Box
Within the box, my life is held.
Just open the cover and they’ll begin to tell.
A story of deception, a tale of two
Words that shouldn’t have been written, said, or even thought.
But yet I keep them; for it was love that was sought.
I’ll keep them as a reminder of the pain that they brought.
In each sentence my heart breaks in two,
But it was joy and gladness in the beginning I knew.
At first it was friendship, then a risk and a rush.
Some made me excited, some made me feel flushed.
My body and soul once again came alive.
Now as the end draws near, I don’t think I can survive.
I’m crushed, I’m numb, I’m back to near death.
It’s taken all I have, every last breath.
