Ego VS. Spirit
Guinevere Negrete 1979 (Los Angeles)
Lying here tortured, writhing in pain,
A scorching, heart wenching,
Heart thrusting pain.
Oh how I’ve hurt you, I blemished your
Soul.
While one hand seduced you the
Other abused you.
I didn’t know better, I did the best
That I could.
I should of never invaded your life
misunderstood.
Now here I lie.
Ripped into shreds,
Tattered to pieces, cause you left my bed.
How do I shift, how do I turn, how to align
My heart to match yours?
I feel the pull, I know you cherish me,
Yet my ego & body still crave your nestle.
The yearning burns deep thirst quenched
For your waters.
I know that sounds fleeting, just
Mundane dull, desires.
I’m morning the past, the skin we have
Shed, I can’t decide if our love is worth
Fighting or if I’m better off dead.
My head knows the truth, my soul knows
Our beauty.
But my heart only hears the pounding
Of its sick sense of duty.
Why does it matter, why must I care?
Our love is eternal, robust & beyond any
Compare!
I know you & you remember me. Why
Can’t that be the only thing that I see?
I’m meant for you & you’re meant for
Me, an unconditional, Celestial, light
Guarantee!
That beautiful rarity should be all that I
See,
Yet what forever still haunts me is your
“Crystallized” old reality.
