The bond that endures
Samir Galip 2005 (Dhaka)
A bond that's unadulterated and genuine,
For the select few, it is meant to convene.
It commences with a spark, a flicker of light,
And burgeons with each moment, be it day or night.
In a world that's vast and oftentimes austere,
Companions aid us in holding dear,
The gravity of our apprehensions, fears, and qualms,
With an attentive ear, they resolve them with aplomb.
Once, by happenstance, I encountered a friend,
Our paths crossed in a transient bend.
Yet in that fleeting moment, I sensed a kinship,
A connection that penetrated deep, our companionship.
We chuckled and bantered, shared our aspirations,
Our anxieties and wishes, our rises and descents, ascertained.
Together we meandered, through sunshine and rain,
With each stride, our connection intensified again.
We confronted our trepidations, scaled summits grand,
Embraced each other through sufferings and torment.
Observed our achievements, big and small,
With jubilation that only bona fide friends recall.
And as I reminisce, on all we've shared,
Discern how much we've flourished, how much we've cared.
For it's not just words or actions that it conveys,
It's a tale of devotion and allegiance that camaraderie portrays.
Thus, here's to my friend, my partner in rhyme,
Whose bond has endured the test of time.
May it strengthen more, with every passing day,
As we traverse life's path together, in an awe-inspiring way
