Innocent

What have I done
in this world
that I should
be troubled?

What have I done
in this world
that I should be
haunted?

What have I done
in this world
that I should be
hated by men?

Whom
have
 I
offended?
When?
Where ?
How?

Say it loud!
my ears are itching
for an answer.

Is it slander?
Is it mischief?
Is treason?
Or, what you?

Let the world
bear me witness
For I will hide my face
in shame;
if not
let the world
bear me witness--
I have done nothing.
