The last star

When I was younger the stars were forbidden.
But these stars were up in a cabinet, hidden.

When I was older I got curious.
Would taking a star make momma furious?

I took a star and made a wish.
Would it make me all better, or turn into a fish?

My pain went away and so did my sorrow.
I thought "lets do that again tomorrow"

A small mistake though I had made
I might as well hit myself with a spade.

My sadness was worse the next morning come.
I thought that it had been a job well done?

That night instead of three I thought to take four.
But why only four when there's plenty more?

I took five, six, seven, then eight.
I forgot after that, but tried to calculate.

If there were 380 stars in the sky.
How many helped me get happy high?

If I left 368
How many blue and red stars did I fucking take?

I felt too tired to count, went to bed.
Hoping this nightmare was all in my head.

I stumbled and fell right into a chair
My heart in my throat, my lungs none of air.

I scrambled quickly to sit upright
Was I even making it throught the night?

I felt like giving up so I took one more, too far
Little did i know it would be the last star.
