I wonder if the world stopped turning
I wonder if the world stopped turning
And half always the night
Would we covet the sun
Secure a threshold
And fight our wars for light?
Would we send the precious fuels for burning
To color a darker side?
Vanquish the borders
And migrate in circles
To behold two skies so wide?
Could we ever even live that way?
Could our fellow forms survive?
For sure it would be a daunting task
Keeping all those plants alive
The sun would surely warm and warm
It’s hemisphere to hold
so shade should be constructed
So that fodder may nurture old.
Rains may cease to ever fall
And ponds will want to dry
we shall drill the precious lifeblood deep
So the wet can also thrive.
The sunlit side having ever so much solar energy
Would probably give rise to demand and supply
What a devilish monopoly
Maybe we’ll self segregate and evolve to either or
And just for our posterity’s sake
Choose the day or night to explore
My imagination is awake
I could have much more to say
On the endless hypotheticals
If life was lived that way
Truth is we’re all blessed
In this immaculate dance so just
May I smile at this sweet sky divine
And be thankful I’m on the cusp.
