Embrace Your Journey

Hajra Khan 1997 (Lahore)

When the world turned against you
And you are feeling really blue
And you don't know what to do,
When the saddened sun won't shine,
In the gloomy moonless night
When the stars will not align,
When life is something that you dread,
When there seems nothing,
More than to disappear forever,
Just look back to the path you have travelled,
Remembers the river trembles with fear before entering the sea,
But she has to take the risk of entering the ocean,
For the oceans do not apologize for its depth,
And the mountains do not seek forgiveness for the place they take
And so, neither shall YOU.

About this poem

This poem serves as an uplifting reminder to persevere through difficult times and find strength within oneself. The verses describe moments of despair and feeling lost when the world turns against you. It emphasizes that life can be challenging and overwhelming at times but one should keep going. The poem draws inspiration from nature, highlighting how oceans and mountains exist without apology or seeking forgiveness for their depth or place. Similarly, I encouraged the readers not to seek validation or apologize for their existence. Instead, they should embrace their journey, recognize their worth, and move forward with resilience, just like nature's elements do. The overall message is about self-empowerment, acknowledging one's strength, and facing life's challenges head-on with determination and acceptance of oneself. It serves as a reminder that even in the darkest times, there's a path to navigate and find inner strength to keep moving forward.
