Hushed Belligerence
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Hushed into a quiet rolling eye belligerence.
Are the ones most corrupted.
Loving just mustard on their hotdogs.
And the flavor of tasteless,
Homemade custard pie.
Who defies and denies,
Proof of evidence provided.
Hidden with attempts to hide,
From eyes wide open.
To then create more alibis and excuses made.
As if this should satisfy and be appreciated.
Done to fake an appearance of innocence.
With a shameless disguising,
Of lies told knowingly to deceive to be...
Victimized by an entire society.
Shakened awake to observe and witness,
Truth and reality completely dismissed.
Hushed finally they are.
Into a quiet rolling eye belligerence.
Like children caught.
With crumbs on their mouths.
And hands caught in a cookie jar.
Crying to be forgiven.
For going to far to tell lies they knew,
Could not remain believed.
Yet...
Did to do anyway to deceive the truth.
With attempts to hide,
From eyes wide open.
Nolonger awaiting for the right punishment,
To administer a justice...
That will hopefully prevent,
More to think it easy to steal and corrupt.
Then to have it believe,
These activities can continue...
By children dressed up to appear as adults.
But...
Gone.
The exits offering escapes.
Gone.
Are the slaps on wrists.
Permitting this childish danger to exist.
Gone.
Is a forgiveness those guilty anticipate.
Since...
Deserving of a punishment,
Is theirs to receive to believe it done to come!
For mouths closed to hush.
While crumbs of cookies crushed,
Are brushed away.
From their unsuspecting faces.
Publicly displaying the evidence and proof,
That a duping to do it done...
Presents an embarrassing overdue outcome!
An outcome no one expected to accept it.
As a fact once to have attracted the act,
Of an innocence portrayed.
Like a game of hide to try and seek.
That smothers a guilt to dismiss it played.
Day in and night out without it punished!
