THE SONG OF THE LOST SPARROW
...My bird, why have you run away from me?
My bird where have you run to?
And look you have got the wings
The wings, so tall upon your shoulders
So that you can fly
Fly up in the upper sky
So that I can never be in contact with you again
And you have left me
With the permanent scars
‘Yes, unending scars
And look what h’ve you turned me into
You have made me a laughter
The Laughter to my friends
Now all of them
H’ve turn their backs away from me
And now I am speechless
With no joy, no smile, no happiness
I cry from morning to night
Knowing that you’re the one
Who carries my breath?
And for me you were my everything
So why h’ve you run away from me?
And let me endure this great pain
If I could, yes I could beg
The Almighty to grant me wings
So that I could also fly to where you are!
About this poem
This is a poignant and beautifully written piece of poetry that captures the emotions of loss and longing. The imagery of the lost sparrow and the desire to have wings to reunite with what was once cherished is both heartfelt and evocative.
