The Monster Within
There's a feeling I can't explain.
Intoxicating, it engulfs more than cocaine.
So much of a nuisance, its name highly profane.
The story behind the man I became.
This feeling, thick and heavy, I seek to detain.
My self-will, my strength, I fight to maintain.
All these blood draining from my vein.
I look to the mirror, and what do I see?
A figure devoid of ecstasy.
I glimpse a lot of them, people like me, those in this agency.
Misunderstood by all those I fancy.
No, they wouldn't want anything to do with this pregnancy.
Many take to their heels, appalled by my much ominous prophecies.
I've heard them talk, "Alas, that girl is always in a state of emergency."
The brain is it's target, the heart a control center.
Negative signs resound in my head like thunder.
Silent stares, a wide smile, leaves me a lot to ponder.
My very being, my soul to dismember.
Can't breathe, this fire in my lungs burning hotter.
To you my friends, I present this letter.
Help me please, I fear I'm going under.
There's a monster deep within, a boxer without a glove.
Wrapped up in the crisscrossing of its blows, it wove.
Make haste, for the flames are now out of the stove.
Reach out people with a little love.
Turn this bird of prey into a blissful dove.
Deserving torrents of the hearts of mauve.
Reaching for the light from the heavens above.
Ajike Chioma Peace.
