The Mystery & Me
My edges are seen as too sharp
My lines are seen as too soft
Each angle that uniquely belongs to me
Becomes another maze to fall trap to.
Another bottomless pit to keep falling into
These curves are supposed to guide down my body
Like a map leading you down the pathway
Of my skin and gently through every crevasse
Rather than the razors they’ve turned into
Used to cut deep into the soldiers who dare to travel
This uncharted territory
Your bleeding unfamiliarity
Makes me feel all too unfamiliar
- I’ve become the mystery in which is unsolvable.
About this poem
How does it feel... When you become a stranger in your own skin? When your body becomes a maze to become entrapped in? When every unique part of you becomes a peculiarity that nobody can fully understand? It feels as if you are unsolvable. I wrote this poem to explain such a layered and complex human emotion. Hope you enjoy.
