A Time Such as This
Barry Green Jr 1973 (Florida)
A TIME SUCH AS THIS
We hear of distant war, hatred rises
Bombs explode and war surprises
But we read His word, and it's clear
There's no surprise for God here
We are called to be His
For a time such as this
We hear of floods, and distant storms
They claim we're dying, the earth warms
We read of earthquakes in distant lands
We read, and reading understand
We are called to be His
For a time such as this
We see death, evil, right on our screens
We cry out, Asking God what this means
But the wise read, ponder, and truly hear
We look up, our redemption draws near
We are called to be His
For a time such as this
We smell the smoke of countless fires
Burning earth on the altar of desires
Yet we read that God will not be mocked
Though God told them, they are shocked
We are called to be His.
Fora time such as this
We were put in this time, and place
To show the World God's Grace
We read that God loves one and all
Yet know that there are many who fall
We are called to be His
For a time such as this
We watch the world, turn and spurn
The Love given, that they'll never earn
We read that many will denounce and defy
This loving God that calls you and I
We are called to be His
For a time such as this
AMEN
About this poem
Though chaos reigns we are called for this time For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14
