Dance with the night

Dena Alsteen 1975 (Michigan)

The moon shines down it's beams of pure light.
I listen to the sounds around me, and I dance with the night.
The crickets sing the sweetest of serenades.
I wonder at the beauty, and marvel at how this was all made.

A stream whispers to itself as it flows out of sight.
I yearn to know what it has seen along it's way, and I dance with the night.
The trees murmur their secrets to each other, the night is their time to speak.
The beauty of everything surrounding me is so pure that it makes me feel weak.

The wind caresses my face as it passes by in it's invisible flight.
I want to race along with it, but cannot, and so I dance with the night.
If only everyone could feel the beauty hidden within the darkness.
This hateful world would be filled with so much more happiness.

About this poem

Nature is my "church", the cathedral of my soul that makes me gasp in awe at it's eternal and ever changing beauty.
