Dil-hi

Grief is all the love that is left unspent
Of knowing you can’t love someone
The love for a homeplace in a far away land
Hugs for a mother who weeps in blanks
For being not loved in return
A turn of the tide, a heatless burn
Grief is a curse of loved ones

Grief is a lie, a turn of a knife
The salt not of seas but of eyes
A churning of stomach
Repulsion from one’s own sickly hides
Of hot waters and hotter suns
Of spiced tongue and raining mud
Grief is a world yearned yet unsent.
