The path of little sorrow
Mark Alan Klein 1965 (Cairo)
March 24It was dusk to early morning
When I first felt the alarm
As we searched for words unspoken
When you touched me on the arm
We have passed our last horizon
I have no more tears to shed
Draw the shades down on the window
Put this old man straight to bed
That there’s nothing left between us
And the laughs are all but dead
Time to change the faded picture
That was hanging by our bed
When I wake up in the morning
Things will never be the same
As I look forward to the moment
When you give me back my name
About this poem
When you both realize it’s over. You’ve come to the point you just want out. So many mixed feelings. Sorrow, hurt, disappointment and fear all mixed into one. But, the moment you realize it and you’re ready for it to be over. .
