WHAT CAME NEXT
Barry Green Jr 1973 (Florida)
WHAT CAME NEXT
The Bloodied King, nailed to His Throne
Mighty King, surrounded but alone
His enemies mock, they beat, they kill
His subjects, He loves them still
He is a mighty King, yet humble of heart
He's come to end the war, tearing us apart
Humble Hero, born to die
Hear the shouts "Crucify!"
You know Him, you've heard the story
Come now behold His Glory
Heaven's King, our Savior and Lord
Paying a price we could never afford
See the King, take sickness away
Watch Him raise the dead, live another day
Hear Him as He touches the heart
In His words does Grace truly start
You know the Betrayal, a friend's Kiss
The Trials and accusations, Satan can't miss
The eternal ring, hammer on nail
This is not the tale I'd tell
Rather I'd have you, look
Look deeply into the Book
See the love? There in His eyes!
The Forgiveness, even as He dies!
See the Glory of Easter Sunday
When the stone is rolled away
Remember why this came to be
Our Salvation, for you and for me
Remember what came next?
Come now, search the text
He tells us to preach to all
Tells us to lift His Holy call!
If wish to praise Him, His Glory
Then go out and spread His story!
Go! Tell the story, shout the Tale
The victory of the Cross' Nail!
AMEN
About this poem
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven. ” John 20 19-23 more »
