STEPPING THRU MY SHADOW
Stepping thru my shadow
Taking it all in stride
Crawling inside myself
Looking to the other side
Skies they cast a dark on me
So I'm sifting thru the quiet
To find the me I used to be
That's trapped inside my mind
Stepping on my shadow
It screams to let me go
How was I to lose you
Without ever letting go
Shadows fly on silence
And time is no good no more
I've stepped thru the shadow
That belongs to us no more
Days are grey n dreary
My soul is dark and dry
Laughing comes when weary
And tears without a cry
I'm stepping thru my shadow
Feeling clean inside
Dusting off the pain
And looking to the light....
About this poem
I wrote this poem to reflect the trials and tribulations that I went thru after my wife passed away and the realization that by honoring her memory and moving on is not only cathartic but also necessary to be able to function in life.
