SOULS

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

Where do I stand when I walk all alone to a beat? Only I can hear all the souls and where they went through the years. These thoughts keep haunting me like the stars haunt the evening skies. Kindly pour me another whiskey and answer all of my whys because I have too many questions to mention

I stand alone, waiting to take a seat, watching the rings of smoke taking the shape of the next person I will soon meet. Who will come to me  today saying their words, which are very well planned out, telling me there is no tomorrow or yesterday, bring us home for, you know, the only way to our freedom

I stand here looking in the mirror at the faces of all lost souls, wanting to know their stories. Some speak to me, while others are too shy and just stand there with me and cry

like sand I watch time slip through my hands but yet time is an illusion that only some can see and there are no promises of getting out of here alive or dead so I'm sure I will see these souls again
