need

Maybe,
if I align myself with the things that people need.
Then I might need the way people do.
And someday.
I might be loved, and I might love.

Maybe, someday.

But I spend my days thinking of the life I would live.
If I could just get this trepid sedation rung out of me.
cause there ain't enough things in this world I could give away.
so that just for one moment, my mind could know peace.

I long to long, the way that happy people do.
Clipped wings and a sky I'm too scared to use.
The rise, The fall, The reckoning.
Endless views of grass so green
Trapped on the ground unable to see.

I'm stuck chasing things that make all the difference to me.
Idolizing people who glut on life's pleasantries.
They jettison and soar, while I can only be.
Cursing wanting so much, While I can only Need.

Why give me wings, just to take away my gift of flight?
In my face you dangled and took away a happy life.
Broke me down to pieces and pinned me with your mistakes.
I might not be able to fly, but I can still walk away..

I don't blame the world for the way things been.
Believing too much, one of too many sins.
sometimes I let a little light in, but then I remember,
and I fade to dark again.

I don't think, I'm just awake.
I don't care and that's just ok.
High without a soul, freed from the weight.

I'll take the stones used to beat me,
to straighten out my crooked wings.
I don't mind the way the world casts my aside.

Who needs you, cause I got me.

Course having me, is the only thing I ever really need.

About this poem

Vulnerability is having the strength and courage to love and be part of the world. Without that, all you can do is yearn from the sidelines.
