Desert Dreams
The coolness of the evening breeze,
caresses her high-boned cheeks,
dreamy, almond eyes stare toward the
parched mountains of the desert,
beyond any highway signs and
sun-baked roads.
She is an eagle with sharp eyes,
gliding in poetry with the wind,
the air is her womb, gently rocking
in a cradle which shields her from
unsuspecting forces.
As a bird of prey, she soars to great heights,
way above the humanity which exists far below;
she is a wind dancer catching the zephyr which
leads to her perch, a lofty throne in which the
plight of humankind is observed.
As a visionary, she has the power to see beyond today
with a desert dream as clear as a blue sky,
observing peace among her people and peace
throughout the world.
