Devils puppet

Toni Dulaney 1989 (Ohio)

Late at night as I lie in my bed,
I play back all of the things I wish I would've said.
Instead it was all lies and deceit I was giving,
Neglecting everything in life that wasn't living.
Living to die anf not wanting to live,
Taking from others never wanting to give.
My heart was so frozen that it wouldn't thaw,
While my family went to bed praying they didn't get that call.
I cared about nothing I was living life my way,
Even though others seen me slipping and were begging me to stay.
You couldn't tell me anything for I knew it all,
Such a short person but I felt ten feet tall.
I only had one master and the devil was his name,
I'd do his dirt daily wake up the next day to do the same.
Like a leach on my back he slowly sucked the life out of me,
Turning me into someone I never wanted to be.
Breaking down my body he really did a toll,
Leaving behind a shell of a once beautiful young soul.
