Mother I Will Tell The World
Mother should I write this poem
And tell the world what you were
Not, or supposed to be true
To your salute; a performer earning
Academy applause, or just mine,
Would have been enough, as I
Would have clenched my fists so
Tight, to never let that moment fly
Off the world, or out of my sight;
Mother should I let them know
I still love you even though
I took refuge with your J&B, green
Bottles hidden secretly, safe under
Neath the kitchen sink, like
Anne Frank in Nazi hiding?
Mother should I tell them how
You make pain like clay molding; prized
Pottery pieces stocked upon highest
Shelves, as you will never remember what I
Can never forget, still I smell your breath
Of cheap wine now, and always will
Wait for the right yesterday.
