Oppression
We tie ourselves to a post
like a Chinese bamboo tree,
held there to grow
into a predestined shape.
What happens if
we decide to follow our hearts
instead of our minds?
Branching out to reach ideals.
If we burn the ropes
we put on willingly at first,
imagine the world,
full of our greenery.
Talent would fill every corner,
color would come with competition,
unexpected buds would now bloom,
and we could shake off opposition.
