Spared
My heart was pained
My legs were chained
My bones stood tired
From the clubbing of thugs he hired
And the tyrant marched in
arrogant and deadlier than I've ever seen
"this time tomorrow…,
use today well for its borrowed…
drink well your cup of sorrow…
for by morrow's noon; you shall be food for the sparrow…"
I had a dream at dusk
this existence became dust
even the bones a dusty rust
this death was painful but a must
I sniffed a wiff of air
my very last, that's clear
and the thugs came from my rare
sure the time is near
They unlocked the chains and shackles
from my waist, arms and ankles
my life started to replay and I tingle
but the thug shook my hands with a giggle
" morrow's noon you shall die; we were bluffing
full of vanity; full of ourselves
arrogant men compare God to themselves,
the tyrant took your place, he's in your coffin
he died a flimsy death from coughing"
