The Nun Of Kent
Elizabeth Barton the Nun of Kent and
prophetess. Strongly opposed the divorce
of Henry the Eigth from Catherine of Aragon
In late Fifteen Twenties England. She joined
the nunnery of Saint Sepulchre in Canterbury
After miraculously curing Thomas Cobb of
hallucinations. She was placed under the
Tutelage of Dr. Edward Bocking. A monk of
Christ Church Canterbury. Her activities
were officially sanctioned by Archbishop
Warham of Canterbury. She was considered to
be a holy maid and visionary. Especially
privileged by God. Bocking and Barton
became lovers. She was executed as an
heretic. And poor wench without learning.
