There Once Was A Man ~ Aug. 25, 2020
Cheyenne Seaman 2003 (Philadelphia)
There once was a man who they say was born to lead
But when the time came, he told them no.
Many, to him, began to beg and to plead
Saying they'd follow wherever he'd go.
Finally, he caved and cruel he was.
"To me, you are as expendable as the sand.
I fill your bellies with pheasants and doves.
You want me to lead, well here I am.
And now forever you shall labor.
From dawn to dusk in the mines, you'll toil,
Til the days of old, you start to savor
And you come begging me for lighting oil.
Should dissent within ever arise,
I will cause your children to die before your eyes.
As at death's door do you lie,
You'll forever toil 'til you die."
There once was a man they say was born to lead.
Under their pressure, he finally gave in.
That's when they saw he was cruel and mean
And they began to regret the power they gave to him.
