The Chains Finale
The Chains Finale
For the longest time, I found myself in chains tied down
In these chains, I am bound wanting to be free
In these chains, I am restricted wanting to be released
In these chains, I am unable to move wanting to express
For so long I have been attacked, criticized and emasculated
By my oppressors who struck have me raw and bloody
Until the scar tissue became so thick I no longer feel pain or anything else
Except anger towards my hooded oppressors who refuse to let me live free
I have struggled so hard and for so long against these chains
I have screamed until my voice was raw
LET ME BE FREE!!!!
Then one day, I broke free of my chains and howled then turned to my anonymous tormentors
I set upon them with a vengeance like no other
Punching, kicking and screaming along the way
They must feel pain for every moment I was imprisoned
Most importantly, I had to see their damned faces
I wanted to see the face of my tormentor, had to see the face
Through all the violence, I unmasked one and I froze
For his face was my bruised face
I sat back and looked around at all of them
Every single face was mine
They circled me and I stood panicked at what was to come
They raised their hands to me, but no one struck me
They merely advanced towards and bruised one got real close
Cold fear echoed through me then he embraced me
And with this hug, I felt a warmth wash over like a hot shower
With it I felt a desire to exist as a person for myself
Because for so long I have existed for others
The next embrace was cold and I felt subdued anger
Breathe and let it all out, I will give you a voice now
No longer will I be a passerby
The next embrace felt like wonder, curiosity and a desire to learn
Rest easy and feel free to explore the world about with no fear
Of your curiosity being slain by any
This went on and with every hug, I felt like I was returning
To the person that I was before I only wanted to survive
Now, I want to thrive and I will not relent on being wholly me
I will not imprison myself in chains to appease
Anyone
Anything
Any concept
I am free
