Analysis of Old man in a tree
Joanne McKay 1955 (BC)
There was an old man who lived in a tree
He’d peer out for hours for what he could see
But he never saw me!
He’d shake his white head and jump up and down
Oh I can see everything for miles around
The big old moose in swamp yonder there
And in the bush down the way, An old grizzly bear
That’s fine says I, fine as can be
But look hard as you might
You’ll never see me
With that the old man did a jump and a flip
And down from the tree it caused him to slip
He hopped on one foot with his arms in the air
Where are you, you sneak? This just isn’t fair!
So he walked and he walked and the things that he’d seen
Made him happy and sad the places he’d been
Isn’t this fun, I have and aerial view
When you can see one, I can see two!
For I travel atop him, his hair in the breeze
A smile on my face, a mighty proud…….flea!!
