Analysis of Believe
John Jessup Kennan 1953 (Pomona)
Woman, you move like a whisper
Through the souls of those like me
Gently rustling, a mystery
You hope the world can't see
You move into the morning cautious
The world feels sharp to you
You step lightly, as a kitten
Investigate the world anew
There are souls who move more deeply
At different degrees
At different altitudes and depths
In different realms at different speeds
Sparks of lightning sound from your eyes
Thunder sparkles distant through your veins
Sunlight and moonbeams shoot from you
Here in the land of blessed rains
It seems I have caught you off balance
Life and you had a falling out
Will you doubt your belief?
Or will you believe your doubt?
Soulful visions go unnoticed
Where visionaries all are blind
Cruel and unkind, insensitive
Don't pay them any mind
Step out into that morning
Go out there, be who you are
Let the world stand and take notice
One with the sun, that shining star
Don't worry what the world will see
I assure you, this world is blind
All they see is in their mirror
What they seek is what they find
Go step out into your Eden
Where a world so ravaged and sore
Should feel awkward in your presence
The minute you walk out your door
It seems I have caught you off balance
Life and you had a falling out
Will you doubt your belief?
Or will you believe your doubt?
Over your shoulder with a grin
Tell the world, I am who I am
And when your dreams go chasing you
Tell them, Catch me if you can
Let them hear the lightning eyes
Let them see the sparkling thunder
Let them gleam in sun and moonbeam
Let them stand in awe and wonder
