Analysis of The Carnival Is In Session
John Jessup Kennan 1953 (Pomona)
Somebody dialed Nine One One
The districts here are all red lights
Cops showed up with seltzer bottles
And busted up a cream pie fight
With flowers in all of their lapels
Squirting water from Kevlar chests
They're interrogating suspects
Hand me down my waterproof vest
That goofy feathered predator
Keeps making all that noise
Speaking to our destinies
In Alfred Hitchcock's voice
Remanded into custody
The raven in a cuckoo clock
Makes its hourly pronouncements
In the voice of Alfred Hitchcock
The cop cars all have ooga horns
Lawyers bill escorts by the hour
A Vaudeville judge in chambers with
A rubber gavel wields power
That goofy feathered predator
Keeps making all that noise
Speaking to our destinies
In Alfred Hitchcock's voice
Smoke and mirrors from the bench
Our keyboards hereby sentence you
The Camptown Ladies won't shut up
And neither will that damn cuckoo
We're looking for our tribes as if
Belonging makes us whole somehow
But it doesn't really matter
We're all the IRS's n*****s now
That goofy feathered predator
Keeps making all that noise
Speaking to our destinies
In Alfred Hitchcock's voice
