Analysis of THE SPECTRE

JP. 1948 (United Kingdom)

The spectre is the predator
Inside the dome of power
A facet of a legislature
That stalks it hour by hour
And in the day they come to him
The children that are prey
The documents by hand flow in
As he grooms them every day

Yet on the Hill he is well known
A champion of cause
Of waifs and strays not yet full-grown
Though few will near him pause
An orator of stance and note
Of him they were so sure
Whilst in the night the Emails wrote
Stack up behind the door

But on the screen in bayou green
Betrayed his true intent
A boy has mail though just sixteen
Explicit in content
So now its out, exposed the wolf
No fleece can hide its teeth
Deception fades to show the truth
The dogs of law unleashed

While in the house a vacant seat
Brings down the wrath of scold
Deceived they claim in this defeat
Hoodwinked by this fools gold
And yet they knew, they always knew
What any Page could tell
But let it ride to stalk anew
To Yield and not compel

And now they wring the hands of state
As they measure truths by lies
At the oval desk of a potentate
Wrong footed by surprise
Is this the tip of an iceberg hid?
In a cesspool of desire
Will they dare lift up this cauldrons lid?
Before they douse this fire
