Analysis of Poem 13- Villanelle Alexander Jaffee P.3 6/9/2021 “Snowflakes”

Why do people find everything offensive
I can’t make jokes in school
That’s insane and excessive

I have no choice but to get defensive
When people accuse me of racism and homophobia (dual)
Why do people find everything offensive

“That teacher is loud” (That’s racist and aggressive)
So you tell me I hate black people? Not even true
That’s insane and excessive

Teachers and authority everywhere don’t allow me to be expressive
No jokes for me, if they even allude to an allusion to something not cool
Why do people find everything offensive?

Social justice warriors accusing all whites of being oppressive
Black lives matter ‘protests’ destroyed, looted, and burned- to the fire that’s fuel
That’s insane and excessive

It’s at a point where everyone is obsessive
Virtue signaling, not allowing humor, cruel
Why do people find everything offensive?
That’s insane and excessive.
