Analysis of Sleep Demons
Aaron Thomas 1999
Another sleepless night-
that I’m not alright.
I’ve counted all the sheep-
constantly praying for sleep.
Soon I’ll start to drift away-
that’s when the demons come to play.
I try for help, stuck with silent screams-
why can’t this be a bad dream.
My mind will start to race-
one chants that in a waste of space.
Another makes me feel paralyzed-
I’m so tired, constantly feeling terrorized.
I think I’m close to death-
as they start to take my last breath.
They all suddenly go away-
I see the morning sun, time to suffer another day.
