Analysis of Fifteen

It started when we were just kids
I was happy just to stare at you every recess
And wait for that smile with short glances
Never really caring where it leads

So I mustered enough backbone
Although it took me an entire year
To go to the nearest payphone
So your voice I can finally hear

It’s funny that even with just a short time
And armed with only a few dimes
Talking to you, I dare say
Was the highlight of my day

Then grade school ended, we lost touch
And I was missing you so much
But we had to get through our high school days
And live our separate ways

Who would’ve thought
That our paths again will get caught
In a time of our lowest
We found each other in life’s big forest

This is almost perfect
You’re everything I prayed for
But why am I in such a wreck
Knowing it would be hard for us to stay on the same floor

But I know what I have to do
Cause I’ll be damned if lose you
I will take that 13,000 kilometers away
To wake up with you… everyday

About this poem

15 is my favorite number for a reason, it was because of a childhood crush who wore the same number. We happen to bump in to each other again after 20 years.
