Analysis of Melancholy Days
The melancholy stain of winter has
Descended upon our days
Our hills our dales our valleys
Shading all in darkest grays
The glittering wrap of Christmas gone
All the new year celebrations
Replaced by a more somber song
An odd twist of strange sensations
We yearn for all that we have lost
That which never can be found
Innocence like morning frost
Lifted from the frozen ground
Gone the dreams of young romance
Vanished from our tired sight
Gone the evenings filled with dance
No more the brilliant light
Yet hope survives the bitter onslaught
We shall rise again come spring
Remembering the battles fought
We smile to hear the robins sing
All will be well if we survive
To greet another morn
Our willful spirits will revive
Our very souls reborn
