Analysis of Contemplation
Joy Sengupta 1980 (Maharashtra)
As the end game comes close
I knock, and I scream,
Did I live?
No, I didn’t, it was a happy dream.
I died long back,
The present me, wanted the sky
I couldn’t even reach the stars
On the soil wrapped in mud, I will die.
Life gave me a good chance.
“Be good, live nice once more”
I heard life, and said,
“I would, I would live for sure.”
But the seasons turned, and I grew grey,
I just thought again, I died, And I laid,
Death came to me, when I was alive,
As the bees leave the nest,
When the Queen is eaten, when alive.
Sometimes I feel, I would survive,
What I did, was pure, was good, and would thrive,
Now, after years, when I recoil,
I see my life all on earth, staked in the soil.
