Analysis of An Approved Worker
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
I remind you of these things,
And charging you before God;
As to what a quarrel brings,
Causing hearers to be flawed.
Do your best in front of God,
Study to show how He approves;
Giving Him honor and laud,
Enticement as one removes.
You need not to be ashamed,
To handle the word of truth;
Knowing the truth is proclaimed,
Remembering since your youth.
Shun profane and vain babble,
For it will mislead people;
Leaving gibberish gabble,
Godlessness in the temple.
Talk will spread like a gangrene,
Words that eat as a canker;
Quarrels that would be unclean,
Inflate to become ranker.
Who erred concerning the truth,
The resurrection is past;
Upset faith of the uncouth,
And overthrowing it fast.
The foundation of God stands,
Firm while bearing His seal;
Being shielded by His hands,
And comforted through His zeal.
The Lord knows those who are His,
Are named with the name of Christ;
Being a spiritual whiz,
Evil will not be enticed.
